What is more typical of New Mexico in October than a breath-taking drive under the golden cottonwoods lining the Jemez River? Add a bunch of boys, dads, directors, accompanists, games, hikes, fishing, apple eating, ending in a pot-luck and a performance—and you have the ingredients for one of the most memorable and productive of our events.
This event is one of the most important of the year. Attendance is mandatory. Absence is excused only for serious illness or family emergency. All boys are probationary members of the Choir until after the Fall Hummingbird retreat. There is no additional fee for room or board paid by any of the boys, staff, support staff or parent/chaperones for the two nights and six meals. This is included in the tuition and fees.
During the Sunday luncheon, we also hold the annual Board of Directors election and Collaboration Summit, where families offer their unique talents to the functioning of the Boy Choir for the upcoming season.
