Every fall, the boys of the choir enjoy their annual retreat to Hummingbird Music Camp where they get to know each other, learn new music, and perform for their families and camp staff. The 2013 retreat was a wonderful time for the boys, ABC’s fantastic staff, the HMC staff, and the ABC families!
In October, 2013, the Albuquerque Boy Choir’s Concert Choir and Cantamos groups were guests of the 505 Chorus, Albuquerque’s award winning young men’s A’capella/Barbershop/Choral group under the direction of Tony Sparks. Mr. Paul Hallsted and Mr. Nick Prior directed the ABC choirs.
Also in October, The Albuquerque Boy Choir held asing-a-thon in Old Town’s Plaza Don Luis for audiences from around the world! The plaza was very busy as it was also the weekend of Balloon Fiesta. The event was fun and entertaining.
In December, 2013, the choir witnessed record attendance at the winter concert. The winter concert is an annual event that is offered free of charge to the public. On Friday May 2, 2014, The Albuquerque Boy Choir sang the National Anthem at Isotopes stadium. The choir has also bee selected to sing the National Anthem during opening weekend of the 2014 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
In honor of the late Nelson Mandela, the Albuquerque Boy Choir will feature music from South Africa and around the world during the annual Spring Showcase. This concert will take place on May 17, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead Avenue (downtown). Beginning at 6:30pm, this event is free to the public and will include the drawing for the Albuquerque Boy Choir spring raffle!
